While invoices are frequently generated automatically as a function of exam documentation and billing, users may find additional need to quickly and efficiently execute a new transaction that is unrelated to billable exam items. This tutorial will demonstrate how to create a new invoice directly from a patient profile.
Select a Patient Profile
Select a patient profile. The "Search Patient" field is always visible at the top of your Vision(X) site. Select this field to search for any patient by name:
Alternatively, users can select a patient from Today's Appointments list, or from the Patients tab directly:
From the Patient Profile Page
When viewing a patient profile, look to "Create New" bar in the upper-half of the screen. Select "Invoice" tab from the four available options, then "Add New" to open the menu:

A companion tab will open alongside your selected patient's name, and a new, sequentially-numbered patient invoice is created. Users can add new line items to an open invoice by selection options to add a Prescription Order, Professional Service, and/or Miscellaneous retail items. If the invoice is not actually required, it can be deleted for as long as it remains in "Open" status:
Edit the Invoice
When adding new line items, required fields will appear highlighted in red. Remember to select appropriate payers for each item under the Insurance/Dx column, as well as required diagnosis pointers for any items being billed to insurance. Add all required information for your selected items, then click "Save" to save the open invoice, "Pay" to collect payment, or "Post" to convert the invoice status to "posted" with an outstanding patient balance:

The Invoice is Now Saved!
The invoice is now saved to the patient's profile under its new status. Close the invoice tab to return tot he patient's profile:
