This tutorial will explore basic checkout procedure for patients who make payment for any outstanding invoice balance.
Select an Invoice
In the Patients tab, look to "Invoices" toggle in the information box near the bottom of the general summary. Click the number of any existing invoice that you would like to work with:
Review Billable Items, Codes, and Payers
Before collecting payment, be sure to review all applicable billing fields to ensure that codes, quantities, prices, and responsible payers are correct. When ready, click "Collect patient pay":
Collect Patient Payment
The patient payment menu will open from the right-hand side of your screen. Any amount of payment can be collected at this stage, including $0, and any amount left unpaid will remain listed as an outstanding patient balance owed.
To make a full payment, select the entire balance owed in the "Amount for Payment 1" field, then select a payment method. Required fields for that payment method (such as card type and last 4 digits of a credit/debit card) will populate. Complete all required fields, then click "Post Payment":
Split a Payment
To split payment between different payment methods, enter any value less than the total patient balance owed in the field marked "Amount for Payment 1" and any payment method for payment 1. You will be advised that a balance conflict exists, should you fail to finish paying the remaining patient balance before posting the payment:
Next, click "+ Add new payment" to create a second payment info field, which will populate with the total remaining patient balance owed. This can be split again, or collected in full by completing the required payment fields and clicking "Post Payment":

Once any payment is posted, the invoice converts from "open" (green dot) to "posted" (red dot) status, and the patient balance will be reflected in totals box in the upper-right hand part of your screen. Payment history can be viewed using the drop-down arrow within each line item, or by clicking "View Payment History":
