Documenting Medication Prescription

Updated on

A prescription is the written/electronic record of a provider's recommendation of medication for a patient. This tutorial will demonstrate how to manually document a medication prescription as part of a patient exam in Vision(X).

Medication Prescription Menu

Begin the exam, then select the Medication category to open the documentation fields. If this portion of the exam has already been documented by another provider, or will simply not be performed as part of today's exam, select the check boxes as appropriate. Should a medication be identified as potentially relevant given exam findings, but will not be ordered today, click to add it to the "Medication Not Ordered" list:

Select the finding and reason for not ordering, then click to Confirm:

Prescribe Manually

Click "Prescribe manually" to create a prescription draft, then slick to "Sign Rx Draft" when ready:

Signature Actions

When ready, click the drop-down menu to select a signature action option. A medication draft can be viewed, printed, and/or downloaded:

Once signed, the prescription is added to the patient's active prescriptions list:

When ready, double-scroll the bottom of the page to proceed to the next portion of the exam:
